Our StorySmall acts of kindness to bring happiness into peoples' lives.

From the beginning
WomanKIND Clydesdale was created in 2015 by a small group of women appalled with the steep rise in the number of families having to rely on foodbanks. The premise was that “small acts of kindness” could brighten up the lives of people who were struggling. Our projects always involve asking our community to help – raising awareness about those we are trying to help. Our first two projects “Handbags for Christmas "and "Crayons for Weans” were very successful which cemented our desire to continue.
Kindness matters.. Handbags at Christmas remains an active project . In 2015 we made around 150 gifts, donating to local foodbanks, Healthy Valleys Organisation, migrant and refugee support and more. The need for these gifts has risen exponentially and our sphere of influence has increased. In 2022 we donated 1095 mens and womens’ gifts. We could not survive without our wonderful volunteers and the kindness of our community, who donate goods for our projects on request and often come along and help too. |
.....and onwards. Since 2015 we have designed and delivered many projects: School trip Top Up fund, Oot-n-Aboot, Comfort Packs and Boxes of Kindness. These are all active projects and you can read about them on their own pages. We are always open to new ideas and one of our strengths is the speed in which we can react to local crises: Requests for help need to come from a recognised body - School teachers, Social work, Healthy Valleys Organisation etc. We respond also to national and global crises. We have collected carloads of shoes for Syria; Tents, sleeping bags and warm clothes for refugee camps, Warm winter clothes for Homeless Shelters, Materials for an initiative in Uganda which provides surgery after traumatic births. We are currently donating regularly to the crisis in Ukraine. We are a small group but we achieve a lot! |
